As many of you are aware the WA Government had introduced to Parliament the Work Health Safety Bill 2019 last year. The safety at work of almost all working people in WA, over 1.3 million people, will be governed by these new laws.
The Act has modernised and updated the previous OHS Act 1984. The new Legislation is based on the national model Work Health and Safety Act, and will improve consistency with the rest of Australia by providing one piece of legislation for workplace safety and health across all Western Australian industries.
The State Government's “single Act approach” means that the Occupational Health and Safety landscape can be streamlined and simplified in WA, with the Bill replacing three Acts: Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984, Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994; and the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Safety Levies Act 2011.
This information session and many like it will update WHS representatives, managers and supervisors.
Please note - If you have attended a previous seminar or webinar on the new WHS Act, this Lunch and Learn will have similar information.
